Family portal

How your family portal works

A step-by-step guide for parents, from adding your child to reading μikor's weekly plan.

Four things before the first lesson

  1. Add your child. First name and birth year, in the Children tab. No surname or photo needed.
  2. Give consent. Required by law before your child can use GANCE.
  3. Set a picture code. Your child signs in by tapping three pictures. No password to remember.
  4. Approve a device. Open GANCE on the tablet or laptop your child will use, then approve it in the Devices tab.

One header, one child at a time

The child switcher is at the top right. Every tab shows only the child you pick. The coloured stripe stands for the seven curriculum areas.

Today, at a glance

μikor's read sums up how your child is doing in plain words. Learning now shows the live lesson and its timer, and you can end the session from here.

The bar and the black mark

The coloured bar is where your child is, out of 100. The black mark is where μikor expects your child to be by now. Each area is marked Ahead, On track or Needs focus.

Seven areas, each tracked on its own

Phonics, math, science, traditional writing and cursive, languages, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and Montessori. Each area has its own colour.

Inside each area

Pick an area to see the current unit, how well each skill is mastered, and the next lesson. Skills under 65% are shown in magenta.

Twelve weeks on one chart

The solid line is your child. The dashed line is the path μikor expects for your child's age and pace.

Ahead or behind, by area

Bars to the right of the centre line are ahead. Magenta bars to the left are behind. Alongside: minutes spent in each area this week.

Where μikor hones in

A skill is flagged when your child is 5 or more points below where μikor expects. You see what μikor noticed, the plan for this week, and one thing to try at home.

Weekly, monthly and term

Weekly reports every Sunday, monthly on the first, and a term report at the end of each term. Download any report as a PDF.

Read every word

Every message between your child and Jero, with the time it was sent. Messages from your child's teacher are in the Messages tab.

You control your child's data

Choose how long history is kept. Export everything as a PDF or CSV. See who viewed your child's records, including GANCE staff.

You're ready.

Start in the Children tab to add your first child. Open this guide any time from How the portal works in the portal header.
